To the couple in the car
Behind me at the red light.

At approximately 7:30 this morning
You pulled up behind me at a stoplight.

I was on my way to work
I had just passed you earlier.

Stood outside a residence
You both had coffee in hand.

Somehow you caught up
I drive slow or you’re fast!

I had noticed your beaming smiles
The way you looked at one another.

Illuminated among pedestrians
You two had made me smile.

I thanked my guides
For showing me you.

As I looked in my rear-view
The man in pale clothes moved.

He wrapped his hand around your chin
Embracing you in the sweetest stolen kiss.

I looked away
A private moment.

Your smile beamed behind the sunglasses
A brilliant smile framed by a neat beard.

Happiness illustrated
On my way to work.

Love illustrated
On my way to work.

Hope illustrated
By strangers on my way to work.

When I got to work
I sipped on my coffee.

You had reminded me
Of my own husbands’ love.

Thinking of him
I spent the morning smiling.

Thinking of him
Because of your love.

Thank you for a good moment
In a chaotic modern world.

Thank you for allowing me
To steal a glimpse of love.
